Yes, you read it right, frustration is the new positive. If you are a senior professional in a corporate jungle look back at your growth, and ask yourself why you aspired to grow into a new role or shift job? Definitely not because
you were too happy doing the same job
you were satisfied with your pay-check
afraid of responsibilities
The truth is deep within majority of you were frustrated with one or other thing. Some of the key reasons powering your frustration are:
No substantial increase in your pay-check
You were loaded with work because you were a diligent worker
Routine mundane job that bored you after a time
Absence of appreciation & reward for your work
Behavioural issues like conflict with colleagues
Same holds true for the startup ecosystem in the country; if everyone was a satisfied professional, they would not have ventured out of their comfort zone to work on their dreams. Who would not love to get a consistent pay-check doing what they love?
Having said that I do not want to undermine the value of positive psychology and emotions, however its best place is only after you have started on your new journey. The overwhelming emphasis on power of positivity has undermined the positive change a negative emotion can trigger.
I recommend individuals and organizations to view energy as a neutral term and focus on leveraging it positively. As they “Stars shine brightest on a dark night” so if you are feeling clouded with negativity, tap in to the energy and bring in a change that result in positive outcomes.
